It caused major problems in my marriage until I did a search online and was dumbfounded that this did exist.

When I first discovered it, I went to a sleep dr. and mentioned it. He basically told me I was crazy that no such disorder existed. It really turned me off to getting medical treatment.

I haven't kept up on the current medical reports so I didn't know there was something to treat it.

I am a female in my 40's.Just Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10368968594241279280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9723673.post-1746981828487816162008-07-23T18:32:00.000-07:002008-07-23T18:32:00.000-07:00kaicevy- I guess anticonvulsants aren't standard- ...kaicevy- I guess anticonvulsants aren't standard- I was grasping at straws at the point I got to anticonvulsants (neurontin, not sure if I also tried tegretol)Michael Rack, MDhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15365676269660178401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9723673.post-73807668212902093612008-07-22T13:57:00.001-07:002008-07-22T13:57:00.001-07:00She failed all the standard treatments- benzodiaze...She failed all the standard treatments- benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, and anticonvulsants kaicevyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07554103531622625901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9723673.post-31240589960938085062008-07-14T12:42:00.000-07:002008-07-14T12:42:00.000-07:00alexv: she had no comorbid psychiatric disorders....alexv: she had no comorbid psychiatric disorders. thanks for sharing your cases.Michael Rack, MDhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15365676269660178401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9723673.post-24674696867094176152008-07-12T11:42:00.000-07:002008-07-12T11:42:00.000-07:00That was a good case. I encontered two patients with sexsomnia.

One lady in her 30's who engaged in full sexual activity with her husband and / or masturbation during the first half of night. She was also bipolar on atypical antipsychotics. Negative PSG. She declined treatment.

The second patient was a young man who presented with his girlfriend who was surprisingly very accepting of the patient's behavior. The patient called his behavior "perve sleep" and voiced frustration because he was unable to remember his behavior. He apparently had an axis II disorder. No meds. Negative polysomnogram.

Good luckAlexVhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08551411587162009932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9723673.post-55233143841521029442008-07-12T08:51:00.000-07:002008-07-12T08:51:00.000-07:00quite an interesting entry.quite an interesting entry.LGPhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06860472624459272398noreply@blogger.com
