Increasingly, as the years have gone by, fewer and fewer medical examiners and coroners have been using SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) as a cause of death. If an infant dies unexpectedly, its death may be listed as SIDS, SUID, SUDI, SID, Cot Death, "Sudden plus...," "Death plus...," "Unknown," and many others.
